Dean Jones appointed as Afghanistan’s interim head coach

Former Australia batsman Dean Jones will take charge as the interim coach of Afghanistan for the side’s outing at the Intercontinental Cup in Hong Kong next week.

The 56-year-old Jones, who is also the coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) side, Islamabad United, selects twitter to make the announcement. Jones tweeted on Monday, he said: “I am pleased to announce that I will be Afghanistan interim Head Coach for their Tour to Hong Kong #shouldbefun,”.

This is Afghanistan’s third appointment to the Dean Jones for the role of head coach. In 2015, former Pakistan captain Inzamam ul Haq, it had taken part for the position and his contract was extended till the World T20 last year.

After his exit, Indian Lalchand Rajput was named the coach of the side, under whom the side attained Test status.
